SMCM OOB Meet

image

This past Friday was the very first meet that Southern Maine Car Meets put on at a small lot in Old Orchard Beach, and I must say it was a great success. The lot they picked out was only meant to hold about 50 or so cars and they completely filled it up. Everything from a dumped 1970 Cadillac Coupe De-ville, to a MK4 Supra were on hand. The usual show offs also showed up, and made their idiocy known with an un welcomed burnout, thankfully OOB’s finest are an extremely understanding bunch.

Meyagi’s Supra by far stole the meet, as Supra’s almost always do at these small shows. Running a beautiful set of CCW Classic’s with the typical meaty fitment a supra demands, 18×10″s up front and 17×11.5″s out back. Other than a set of HKS coils, a BW S366, and a MASSIVE 6″ ETS intercooler. The car is pretty much stock, but damn did it make a statement!

In between all the tuners and late model stuff, it’s hard not to miss a couple old school cars. One was Brian Currier’s 69′ Mustang coupe, that his step father completely restored by himself with simple hand tools, and Stephen Herron’s 70′ Cadillac Coupe De-ville. Which let’s face it, was the coolest car at the show.

And what’s a meet in Maine now a days without a couple of bagged VW’s?? Kyle Poirier and Joe Nappi both showed up with their Jetta’s. Kyle’s MK5 is all fresh this year, sporting a brand new set of Klutch Republik SL5’s and a completely custom manual air setup that Kyle pieced together himself. Nappi’s car as it always is, was a hit, especially with his new wheel setup. I was pleasantly surprised to see Joe had gotten away from the reps he had on last year, and instead went with a set of OEM CC wheels.

Tyler Benvie’s E46 BMW also made a strong showing for itself sitting on a new set of wheels for the year, hopefully he listens to all of us and keeps the car, because he should kill it at some shows with that thing this year.

All in all the meet, for what little time we had because of the time of year, was a damn good turnout. Unfortunately we missed out on capturing a couple insanely clean MK4 golfs that showed up late because of the light and lack of a flash, but keep an eye out for those two cars coming up soon with their own feature! Be sure too keep an eye out on our Facebook and our Instagram, which will be up later on in the week, for all local show updates and event coverage!

Awesome meet! Can’t wait for all the ones to come this spring and summer. Meyagi’s MK4 Supra was my favorite for sure, and the cruise afterwards was awesome as well. Hopefully there won’t be any showboat pickup burnouts next time haha.
