First, you must make a visual inspection of the damage done. Be careful not to apply your new brakes backward on your wheel, as they will quickly become burnt by the tire’s metal and rendered useless.

You also want to make sure you match the brake’s squealers to the top of the tire when installing, and do not apply too much grease to your squealers if your pads have them.

On the topic of the location of your brakes, verify that your caliper bracket is not placed wrong to the point of rubbing up against the rotor. Make sure you clean up the caliper bracket itself to ensure that it is latched tightly and does not make a rattling noise when you drive.
